Tropfest is a short film festival held in Sydney, Australia each year. Sydney hosts the live event where the 16 finalists are broadcasted on a big screen in The Domain and also transmitted via satellite to venues in Canberra, Brisbane, Perth, Hobart, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Each film must not be longer than seven minutes, have never been shown publicly before and contain the Tropfest Signature Item, which was the number “8” this year.
After the screening of the 16 finalists a panel of well known Australian and international film directors, actors, screen writers and producers decides on the winner.
We have often heard about it but never actually managed to go there. So this year we met with a couple of friends, had a picnic and watched all the films.
This years winner was “Marry Me” which is really cute. All finalists can be viewed online . Second place was “Uncle Johnny” and third place “Great White Hunters” which we liked as well.
Another very funny one was “Made In Australia”. So if you want to know, what Australia is all about, watch it. Its hilarious, especially if you have lived here for while.
